I'm real new with the raw bone stuff. I have always heard do not give dogs bones but since getting Duke I hear and read it's ok to give uncooked raw bones. I was just wondering what types of bone to give them - are there ones that are better than the other?

It really depends on what your intentions are.

Are you wanting to switch to an all raw diet? In that case, you would feed bones that are easy to chew up and consume. These could be things like chicken/turkey/duck parts. Necks, backs, wings are all very popular and affordable. You can also give parts from just about any animal, as long as your meat to bone ratio is correct.

Or...Are you just wanting to give bones for recreational chewing? In that case, you would give things like beef knuckle/soup bones. Those will keep them busy for a while. Marrow bones are also pretty popular, but those can be kind of rich.

Either way, raw meat isn't a risk to dogs like it is to humans. Anyone who would tell you otherwise is misinformed.

My pup chews on raw soup bones for recreational chewing.. But when he is getting the marrow out it seems parts of the bone break off and he is eating them.. it is the part inside the bone where the marrow is not like a big sharp piece from the outside of the bone.. Is this part of the bone ok for them to consume i was afraid it might hurt his insides?
