I have noticed that bully sticks and even rawhides tend to make my guy have runny stools. Willl raw beef marrow bones do the same thing? I have tried antlers and a few other things but Sebastian really does not like them. Any other suggestians ??Thanks!!

Scoop out most of the marrow (or all of it if his tummy is sensitive) before you give it to him. He'll still chew on it and amuse himself. Bully sticks and rawhides sit in the dog's digestive tracts and tend to cause mild food poisioning (hence the diarrhea and upset stomach).

You're much better off to use raw meat bones to satisfy his chewing needs. We use either marrow bones (Johann is fine alone with these) or rib bones (with supervision only- Johann chomps most of the bone part of rib bones). Make sure the marrow bone isn't small enough for him to swallow whole or choke on.

Johann has a deer antler that he's intermittently interested in. When I want him to chew on it...I smear a small amount of peanut butter on it and he suddenly loves it again.

We give ours a deer antler. Rowdy loved it the second he got it. Capone could have cared less. We decided to saw it in half and now it has a smell to it(stinky) and Capone won't stop chewing on it. Capone chews so hard this is the only thing I can give him and he won't rip it apart.

As long as your dog isn't allergic to beef (which given the bully sticks and rawhides give him the runs makes me wonder) then a raw marrow bone should be fine. Just make sure to scoop out the majority fo the marrow as it's REALLY rich and would probably cause the runs. Or you could to a raw meaty knuckle bone or rib bone as those do not contain the marrow. Good luck.

Dangerous and shouldn't be given in the first place IMO. They're not much different than rawhide. Non digestible can cause obstructions and they use chemicals in order to dry them. They wouldn't hvae anything to do with the allergy unless he's also allergic to pork (pigs ears are just that the ears of a pig) but they're not a treat I would recommend for any dog along with any other kind of rawhide or cow hooves.

In my experience (before i learned the errors of my ways, thanks to BW!!) I noticed my guys would chew the ears for a bot and then nearly swallow them whole! Cant imagine this being very good for them so they dont get them anymore!
