Maddie normally lays down with the bowl between her front legs and her head in the bowl when she eats. How does that apply and does anyone else have a dog that eats that way?

That's perfectly natural - and many raw fed dogs eats exactly that way. They take a piece of meat/bone, and lie down to chew on it.

It is not, however, the same position as standing by a raised bowl
