There are multiple posts here at BW concerning this. The general consensus seems to be some use them some don't! I know that doesn't help much but it's true.

I was also concerned over this when I started researching Boxers. Half of what I read seemed to say use them the other half was totally against it. I suppose it is a personal choice. If your dog is doing ok without the raised bowls I wouldn't change anything. If you are noticing problems such as abnormal amounts of gas you could try to elevate the bowls and see if it makes a difference.

My vet only offerred that he was aware of the pros and cons of both choices and left it up to me. I chose not to elevate the bowls. Just my 2 cents.

My dog has the raised dishes and seems to do well. We started with them on the floor at first but he kept getting choked and spitting half of his food back out- ever since I raised them he's done fine. Probably all just personal preference, but seeing as I have no problems with it raised mine will stay that way until something changes. But that's just me.........
