Hi,
What do you think about feeding beef tails? They are about 4 cm long and about 4-5 cm in diameter, quite meaty. They do look like he could swallow the bone part whole. Will it digest if he does? How have your dogs done on them?
I'll be thankful for any input...

I think we call them ox tails here in the south. I don't feed them much but another boxer owner here had a problem with her husband feeding 4-5 at one time and there was a blockage. maybe tesster will see this and tell you more. if you want to feed them just keep an eye on him.:)

Just fed him one an hour ago and so far no problems. He kind of chewed it after throwing it up once. At least I heard crunching noises. It should be digestible, right?

Yes, it should be quite digestible. If he crunched the bones, there shouldn't be a problem.

Ox tail itself isn't really a worry, it's more that it usually arrives cut up into the sorts of chunks that many dogs don't chew - because they're just small enough for a gulper to swallow whole. If you ever happen to have a dog that gulps instead of chewing, it's best always to feed items that are too large to possibly swallow in one go and that the dog has no alternative but to chew.

Thanks. He is having his usual bedtime pillow fight and not showing any discomfort. Damn, the beef tails are uncomfortably small. We took a long hard look at them before we gave him one and thought it's about as big as a half a chicken neck. That goes usually down just like that. Hopefully it digests alright.
