I have a question, As most of you know I got my Jersey girl yesterday evening. I have a question about her. every so often she kind of like gags and almost how cats do with hairballs in their thorts. she doesnt spit anything up. Im just wondering if this is normal, or what.. Im a worrywort i guess but just wanna be safe. thanks

yet another question hehe.. I was curious do they sometimes shiver and move around in there sleep when they are young, and you have just brought them home from the breeders away from mother, and other siblings? mine will be sleeping.. sometimes snoring a bit, sometimes not.. then out of no where she'll have a lil shiver i will put my hand on her and she usually stops..

My Roxy did a lot of moving around in her sleep for the first week we brought her home. It's mostly because they are so used to getting warmth from there litter mates and they are still looking for that warmth. What we did is bought her a little stuffed toy and had the breeder get Roxys' mothers sent on it and she would snuggle up to that when she slept. After a while she did'nt need it anymore and she does just great, Although she does move quite a bit in her sleep as she dreams of running around in the park the next day:D Have fun with your new baby.

I am not sure about the gagging, One thing that scares me is that is what Jersey's been doing since he had Kennel cough, first he was coughing and now that he is getting over it when he wakes up or in the middle of the night he coughs (sounds like gagging) then go's back to sleep.
All I know is I never heard Jersey cough/gag untill about 2 weeks after I had gotten him and that's cause he was eating his food way to fast.
Is she twitching while she sleeps? If so then she is dreaming. But if she is shivering she probably is missing her littermates and there warmth, best thing to do is get a hot watter bottle and fill it with warm water put a towell or a blanket over it and have her lay on that it will keep her warm and give her the feeling she is sleeping with her mommy and littermates.

It's not uncommon for a Boxer to "twitch" while they are sleeping. Occasionally the twitching is accompanied by muted barks. At times the twitching can get quite violent and it seems the dog is having a seizure.
You may find at some point that the "laying on of hands" won't stop the twitching. It is a bit disconcerting at first, but you'll get accustomed to it. It bothers you more than your Jersey girl.
The general concensus is that they are dreaming.

Thanks, I kind of thought it was just her dreaming away, I just wanted someone else to re asure me 
Also, about this gagging/caugh thing shes kind of doing. Its not all of the time, and she is not "hacking" anything up, no running nose, or anything. she seems pretty healthy to me, it just kind of worries me since Ive read a few things on "Kennel caugh" Im worried it could be that. hopefully its not, anyone got an idea. Trembling, twitching and shivering are all very common in the boxer.
They are a high energy , high strung dog and this is simply the electrical system letting go.
Small amounts of shivering is seen in pups as they are falling asleep and their body temperature tries to regulate itself.
Once a pup slips in to a deep phase of sleep, you will see twitching.
Unless it is cold and you feel the pup is cold , dont cover them up .
Shivering and twitching tells us their nervous system is still developing and adjusting.
All the above actions during sleep and on ocassion while awake , are quite normal.
Adult dogs tend to shiver more when nervous or excited , but they will still twitch a lot during sleep.
All boxers should be covered after surgery, as this is a time when they do get chilled and can lead to shock.
Gagging in pups is usually caused by the soft palette.
This is located at the back of the throat.
The softer the palette is the more it tends to "hang" into the back of the throat , like a flap.
Boxers with a loose soft palette usually snore as well.
A common boxer trait.

thank you very much for that information. Very helpful, I have noticed my baby does snore, not loudly but you can hear her its cute. so hopefully all her gagging is caused by what you were saying. I plan on taking her into the vet on monday for a checkup, etc. so Thanks again! :D
