Question to those with 2

[Cleo's Mom]

As I have mentioned We have been discussing getting a 2nd boxer. A little brother for Cleo. I have kept in touch with Cleo's breeder ands she is expecting a litter (same parents as Cleo)anyday. DH is worried that Cleo will revert to going to the bathroom in the house. Cleo has been housebroken since she was 4 months. Prior to that probably but the last accident was probably 4 months. She is such a good girl that we would love another I thought by sticking to the same breeder and parents I could narrow the odds. What if they don't get along. Cleo belongs to a boxer playgroup and loves the other boxers. Today we had 5. I need someone elses opinion. Would we be doing a good thing or bad thing if we get another boxer at this point. I say it is for Cleo but I really want another boxer baby! What does everyone think?

I'd say go for it, Ruby was 6 months when I got Luka and Angel. Its been (so far) easier having Ruby than not, she plays with them all the time, they love each others company and I am sure Ruby is happier. Ruby's housetraining hasn't been affected, infact the pups learn from her

You already know what I think! Go for it! Cleo would love a little brother. Allie is 10 times more happy now that she has Tucker! Let us know what you decide.

Thanks! Allie's Mom. Boy are we going to miss you! Allie and Tucker are the one's who got Cleo to come out af her shell. I will definately let you know what happens. Keep in touch. I'm going to post the pics of the boxer playgroup that I took today. Good Luck!

I doubt Cleo, being a female, would regress to going potty in the house. An intact male might have a tendency to "mark" over a pup's accidents.

We have two. Indy was fifteen months old when we got Ava, and he never "marked" over her "accidents". And yes, they do entertain each other, reducing the time she/he demands from you.

Be assured that neither will ignore you, and will seek your affections, just not as often.

Keep in mind that because Cleo is such a good dog, doesn't mean that her companion will be as well. While Ava is sweeter, and more affectionate (usually) than Indy, she is the "brat" of the two. Left alone, she will get into all sorts of mischief, even though she is over three years old.

She loves to chew on remotes and cd's or dvd's and their cases should we be careless and leave them around. She won't touch them if we are in the house, but if we step outside, they, among other things are fair game.

They are not all that different from children in that regard. One can be completely trustworthy, while a brother or sister can be a handful.

I say go for it!! I love watching mine play together and keep eachother busy! If you understand the cost and responsibility then there is nothing holding you back Its also pretty cool that you can get a pup breeders you already know and have experience with!!

Potty training Riley was pretty easy. As far as Baxter regressing after we got Riley. I have not seen any negative behavior in Baxter at all. Riley has been great for him.

We have 2 and just put a deposit down on a puppy yesterday. When we brought Colby home, Skye was great with him. She mothered him, cleaned him, slept right next to him...she was very sweet with him. We got Colby when Skye was 7. She didn't have any problems with accidents/marking, etc. In fact, I thought Colby was MUCH easier to train than when we had Cadence. He just followed everything Skye did! He even squats to pee! He's a year old now, and I'm wondering how he'll do with the new puppy. He loves all dogs, so I'm sure he won't have any problems. It's so nice to watch 2 play together. I could watch them play all day, except Skye gets worn out much faster than Colby does! I say go for it!! You will have a blast!!

When we brought Cooper home he had some accidents in the house and if anything Dillon looked at him like he was a nut. We just cleaned them up immediately with Natures Miracle and haven't had any issue with Dillon at all.

ACTUALLY, it helps with the second one having one that is potty trained. Cooper learned the doggie door so quick because Dillon was there to teach him that it was okay and wouldn't hurt him (the door kept swinging back and smacking him in the nose and he didn't like it)

Good luck with your second one. Its the best decision you will ever make. And you won't lose any lap time from the first one, if anything, you will get more than you had before because they will probably be a big jealous of the baby and want to show you how they love you too.

If your ready, go for it!!! We got Bosco when Crash was about 8 months old and he has never marked or gone to the bathroom in the house. He was completly house trained at 4 months old and hasn,t had an accident yet and it's been 10 months since Bosco arrived in our lives. The best thing I have ever done was to get a brother for Crash, they keep each other entertained and us laughing as well.

We also got him from the same people that Crash came from so they are real brothers. I think they might even know it too
