Recently, I have read posts from other members about taping and massaging boxer’s natural ears while they are going through their teething stages so they do not become oddly positioned.
Alexis is now 7mths, and her ears are very perky and large. They constantly stand up on their own, and the left ear stands up and the tip flips backwards. Everyone is always mentioning how funny looking her ears are.
The past couple of days, we've tried taping her ears but we have some questions about it.
If we don't tape and massage her ears, will they flop down over time?
Is Alexis too old at 7 months to be having her ears taped?
How long should her ears be taped for?
Should we take breaks, and give her ears a rest?

Sorry for asking so many questions at once!

At her age, highly unlikely.

You could certainly try. It can't hurt but, unfortunatly, her cartilage is farily set at this point.

How long should her ears be taped for?

Till they sit properly all the time.

Considering how they are standing, I wouldn't for a while. Then, I would give them short breaks, like 8 hours tops.

Good luck and keep us posted.

I had the same problem with my little girl. I started seeing her ears go crazy around four months of age. She is now just six months and they are perfect. At first I just started taping them, all day every day. The only problem I found with taping is one, she gets it off after a while, and two, they only flop for maybe a day or two. Then, I started massaging them all the time. I feel that this method works much better. It is more permanent. I think that it starts to loosen the cartilage and they stay down much better. If your going to use tape, I would use electrical tape because it sticks very well and it doesn't hurt when you take it off. Just make sure that they dont eat it if it falls of the ears.
