Question about possible skin condition

Just wondering if anyone else has come across this. We have a 10 week old boxer and she has little bumps on her skin. Mostly around the neck area now, but she did have them scattered all over. They seem to be getting scabs and then eventually fall off. Anyways just wondering on thoughts if you think it is a permanet problem or just cause she is still a little one and may grow out of the problem.

It sounds as if your pup has hives and/or allergy problems. I would suggest taking her to the vet as soon as possible. Speaking from experience, I hope it isn't allergies as you may have to give her shots if she is ever diagnosed with an allergy. Good luck!

My Lucy, a 1 year old fawn, has developed these bumps also. They don't appear red, nor do they seem to bother her. Also, any suggestions for dry skin. I am pretty sure having the heat on in the house is causing it. Does anyone know of a good shampoo/conditioner maybe?

Same Problem

Please let me know if you find a permanent solution to these bumps. Trinity has the exact same thing. She gets a lot of bumps all down her back and then they scab over and fall off leaving tiny little bald spots. The vet keeps saying its a skin infection "very common in short haired dogs under 1 yr. old" and they give me an antibiotic but as soon as the antibiotic is gone the bumps come back. They also gave me a shampoo to use on her once a week - it's called SulfOxyDex.

If anyone knows the cure for this condition, please let me know. Thanks.

Well, as Thira's Mom posted, bumps like that are often the result of allergies. In that case, the cure is finding out what your pup is allergic to and eliminating it

Actually, the cause is often food, especially if you're feeding a kibble that has a lot of grains or other fillers in it. In a great many cases, the problem can be solved by changing foods. Pick a high quality kibble with as few grains as possible (especially corn or beet pulp which are the most common culprits) and perhaps a different protein source from that you're currently feeding.

Just wanted to give an update on Laila. I had her at the vets yesterday (she was a very good girl). I asked the vet what the bumps may have been. He didn't seem to concerned because she doesn't have them anymore, but he did say it could have been from when she was with her brother and sister and they were playing and scratching each other. I don't know, but he said not to worry about it she is doing great and just to bring her in if she ever gets them back.

Just wanted to say thanks for the food advice. I switched Trinity's food about 2 weeks ago and the bumps are all gone!

My 7 month old GAGE has experienced the same thing. Around Christmas he had a severe case down his back especially and on his neck and rib cage. The vet thinks he has puppy allergies that as he grow and ages it should go away due to a strenghtened immunity to whatevers causing it...which I can't figure out. After reading the threads I'm gonna try switching his food. My puppy too lost hair due to these bumps. Any remedies let me know. Good luck narrowing down what he might be allergic to.

Diesel had the same thing a few months ago. We took him to the vet twice; the first vet told us it did not look like anything to worry about. The bumps got worse so we took him back. The second vet told us it was a staph infection. He gave us pills and a special shampoo, and the bumps went away, and have not returned.
