question about feeding amount of canidae

hi,
i am corently feeding Rocky "canidae lamb and rice als" (not the new grain free formula) 4 cups a day, he will be 6 months old tomorrow and he weighs 22.7 kg, the vet says he looks is great.
my question is, according to thier feeding table a dog weighing 22.7 who's less the six months should be fed 4 cups a day, where as one who's older then 6 months should be fed only 2 cups a day ,it's twise less food per day, is this normal?
second question, does this mean i can still feed him 4 cups per day till he is 7 months' and then go for 2 cups a day?

please help i am very confused

ps: did anyone try the new canidae lamb formule grain free? is it good?
there are no reviews on the food on the dog food analysis site.

First off there is no grain free lamb version, there is the regular ALS grain free which has lamb in it but it also has chicken turkey and fish, then there's a salmon version that has salmon and fish as it's protein source and that's it for the grain frees. So not sure where you saw a grain free solely lamb version unless you're talking about the original version that has lamb in it but as I said it also has chicken, turkey, and fish as well (much like the original ALS version just without the grains).

Second, you would feed via the feeding guide as a puppy up to 6 months, once your pup turns 6 months then you feed via the adult portion of the feeding guide, so you feed through 5 months as a puppy once the dog turns 6 months then you go over and feed as an adult. Remember, it's only a feeding GUIDE if your pup requires a little more food due to a lot of activity, high metabolism, etc then obviously feed more. But I would go down in feeding and if you notice your pup loosing weight then increase the amount, if you notice your pup gaining weight then decrease the amount. It may take a bit to get the "formula" right but use the guide as a guide and go from there and yes it is normal for an ALS food.
