Pussy bumps under fur

Stella has oozing bumps under her fur, mainly near her belly. She has had hives for a week now, but nothing alarming. Her hives now look more like zits, with whiteheads on them. But the big ones under her fur have dired puss all around them and smell a little bit (like puss). Anyone know what the deal is? She certainly isn't acting like they bother her, but they are disgusting looking? The big ones are more on her side. She has a vet appt on Monday, but in the mean time what should I do? She has left over anti biotics from her acne, would that be a good thing for her to take again?

When I took Chesney in for her hives, our vet told us that sometimes dogs get hives from an infection. These hives area smaller than allergic hives and they end up crusting over - sounding like what you are describing. She told me that an antibiotic was required for treatment. Chesney's hives were the allergic kind, so we didn't go into any more detail.

I would wait until Monday and get the antibiotic your vet prescribes. Different antibiotics treat different infections and you don't want to give the wrong one!

I agree with Mary, you should take her to the vet on Monday. Cassius once had a bad case of hives, and after a few days they got infected (maybe from scratching?) He required antibiotics to clear them up. Good luck...
