Boxer Insane
I'm fostering a dog who has been eating Purina LA (limited antigen) due to allergies -- it's a prescription food available only from vets. Has anyone every used this food? Are there any other similar foods out there? The main protein sources are salmon meal, trout, and canola meal (but brewer's rice is the top ingredient.) I'm just curious what people think of it. I don't know exactly what my foster dog is allergic to -- her previous owner indicated that when she as about a year old, she started vomitting frequently and they had to try a lot of different foods before finding one that didn't make her sick.

We have a female boxer 4yrs old...her name is Champagne and I have never heard of that food or been told to try it but I am curious about it as my dog is very sensitive to food and will throw up if she should happen to get into any other food than lamb...she is quite small and I wonder if this food might help her...she is allergic to penicillin and bee stings, so as you see she is a very suseptable dog...is your dog tiny?

I would imagine its similar to the other Prescription allergy foods out there- Hills Prescription Diet Z/D, Eukanuba White Fish and Potatoes etc. I have not used any myself but hear that they are great.

There are also some good ones available at pet stores- Wellness FIsh and Sweet Potato, Natural Balance Allergy Formula, etc. You may want to compare it some some of the non-allergy foods available at Pet stores.
