Hello. I'm new to this. We are bringing home a 7 week old boxer pup tonight. Any suggestions?

Your puppy is a little too young, usually it is recommended to get them only once they are at least 8 weeks old.

Be sure to watch your pup like a hawk. Bring him/her out frequently to help speed up the housebreaking. Whenever your pup wakes up, before and after eating and drinking, and after playing. They will usually relieve themselves before taking a nap.
Since you are bringing your pup home about a week earlier than most breeders recommend, socialization is a must. One of the main reasons for keeping littermates together for at least eight weeks is the socialization process. Interaction with other dogs and people for those first few weeks of life is critical.
Crate training is high on the list of priorities for your dog.

Housebreak, Housebreak, Housebreak, Socialize, Socialize, Socialize..........I'm no expert, hence my name but that's what I'd put on my list.
The next few weeks of your puppy's life are the most critical in it's adaptability to new things. Try to take him out and introduce him to as many things as possible so he is well adjusted as an adult. Of course be careful while doing this but take him out to seee sights and sounds and meets other people, etc. This will be a make or break time for the pup's future "issues". Also the crate training and housetraining will also be really important things to work on.

I agree, your puppy is very young. My breeder didn't let the puppies leave until 10-11 weeks of age. Some good books..."Mother Knows Best" by Carol Lea Benjamin and "How to Raise a Puppy you can Live With" by Clarice Rutherford & David Neil. This last book will be epecially helpful to you because it goes through the puppy's development week by week, so you can try to make sure he/she gets socialized properly. Our "baby" is now 9 months old & we have loved (almost) every minuter of her time with us!!!

I'd have to disagree with the posts about "the pup is way young".
I've read many times that ideal age is about 8-9 weeks old. If the pup is 7 weeks its not much under, and will adapt just fine. I got my pup at 7 1/2 weeks of age, and shes done awesome.
Just my personal opinon, and everyone has 'em.
