My lil girl hurricane is a lil over 8 weeks old and she only weighs about 6-7 pounds... I am worried that this is too small, but she has no problem eating and she is eliminating great.... anyone know if she is too underweight and not going to be a big dog?? HELP!!!

I think it's a little light, the average being about 10lbs or so but it varies. I've heard of pups from that weight up to 15lbs or so. As long as she is eating and acting normally and gaining weight you probably shouldn't worry. :)

At 8 wks my male Carson was 8 1/2 pounds. At 8 wks my female Echo was 10.7 pounds.

Honestly you cannot gauge how big or small a pup will be at adulthood stictly by their weight as a young pup of 8 wks or so. The best determinate is taking a look at mom and pop. The pup should be in that range. Thats the norm not the rule. You can have average sized parents that produce a pup thats huge at adulthood or small. You can have two small parents produce an average/smaller than average/above average sized boxer.
And two large parents producing a small or average sized adult.

Its just like human babies, you can't figure how big they will be at adulthood strictly by their size as an infant :)

I just recently took in 2 more puppies(littermates)...both of which are 9 weeks old. The white male is only 6 pounds. The fawn female is about ten pounds. My vet says neither have anything serious wrong with them, but male is just a little thin. The male is a lot smaller in build currently also.
I guess what I'm trying to get to is as long as your puppy is healthy don't worry it'll catch up :)

My Angel was only 3.5 lbs at 8 weeks. At 11 weeks she only weighed 6.5 lbs. At 14 weeks she weighed 11.5 lbs, and at 18 weeks she weighed 17.8 lbos. She was the runt of her litter and looked very anorexic when we got her, but now that she has grown she looks very proportional, is healthy, happy and full of energy, so I would not be concerned about your pups weight at all. Now if he does not gain any weight, or does not look healthy, or eat healthy, then I would be concerned and talk to your vet.

I know you are worried about your puppy's weight but I'm sure your little girl will grow up to be a healthy full sized boxer. When we got Rita she was only 6 weeks old so we were worried that she wouldn't eat and have problems growing...I had weighed her at home 2 days ago and I got a reading of 9 1/2 lbs...the scale was off...I took her to the vet yesterday and she is 12.1 lbs she will be 9 weeks on Sunday...so as you can see in just a few weeks of us feeding her a good kibble, sometimes by hand she is doing wonderful!

Good luck with your baby!

Thanks for all the input she seems to be doing better now I've been mixing peanut butter with her Chicken Soup and she eats it all without any problem and she can't get enough!!

wow i guess Prince is just a "fat body" :) he's 9 weeks and weighs in at 16 lbs, but i agree with everyone as long as she feels ok and is playfull and eats well there shouldn't be anything to worry about.
