We got Dozer on Sunday night,(8 weeks old) and I have noticed that he walks funny.. looks like he is trying to scratch himself with his hind legs while walking. Now I never seen him do this while running after the Maltese, but when he is walking. Honestly I dont know wether this is "ok" or not, I cant get to the vet till next Monday :( So I am worried about the little guy...

My hubby tells me " dont worrie he just hasnt figured out yet that he cant scratch himself while walking"
We put a Collar on him on sunday night he never had one, so I thought maybe it was because of this. But this is wed. And he still does this...

Anyone had this happen?

he eats fine and everything... runs fine.. he only does it when walking. Not every time either.....just wierd lol

Jessie did that when we first got her too...She was trying to scratch while she was walking... But now she will stop and sit and scratch...

It's the collar......Kaybie did the same thing. It always made me laugh because she would try to walk and scatch and sometimes ended up tipping over. It took Kaybie a long time (like 2 months or more) to really get used to the collar. One of her nylon collars ended up being fuzzy because she scratched at it so much. I wouldn't worry too much. I'm sure your baby is just getting used to the collar.

OH NO!!!!

i just got a call from Dozers breeder, I guess one puppy that they sold on Sunday was walking funny and they brought it too the Vet had x rays and he had a "thimbel" lodged in his intestine,,,, and "ribbet" in his hind leg.
Now I know when I was there no puppy was hurt by any kind of shot, however she (breeeder lady) is not the cleanest Housekeeper, and I can see one of the pups eating something like that.
Now they refuse to pay any Money back to these people, saying that the Puppy was fine and they should have had the pup in to the Vet earlier. I havent had mine in yet my Vet had been too bussy I am going in on Monday.
But I am so worrie bout his HIP now, remember he wlks funny on the left side like wanting to scratch himself while walking.... I wonder.....

SO ,,,this Hip thing,, is worrieng me real bad. What if any options are there? I am NOT returning Dozer, I dont care . He is ours..but if he hs a Hip problem, having surgery is that the only thing that can fix this?
I will read on this too, but ny help would be great!!

He eats fine and poops fine also... so i dont think anything is lodged anywhere or anything like that. No whining unless he wants attention..

I am just worried sick now ,my poor Baby!!

I sure hope so ,,,I guess the other family cant/wont do the surgery and will just put the other Puppy down :( I am like so heartbroken,,,, but I cant afford another Puppy, right now.. I am racking my brain to see wether I can come up with something. I can NOT see putting down a pup because of something like this.

arhg!!!!!

I talked to the vet assisent and told her about the problem, she said "usuelly" boxer dont show any sign of hip disfunctions till about 2 years of age..... not sure 100% but...will run a X-ray if u want too on Monday!

I think i do :)

I sure hope I am over -reacting... :)

My dog Diesel always walks like he has a stick up his butt! :) He's always hurting his hind legs playing too rough too. I was so worried about Dysplaysia too. So I took him in and the vet just felt around and told me they seem fine but said it will usually show up at 2 years also. So terribly sad about that puppy! What losers not to fix their brand new baby he never had a chance! :( I really hope your baby turns out fine. I think we all get a little scared after reading about all the problems that these babies can get into. Hopefully you're being a typical over worried parent. :) Let us know what happensat the vet Monday, and try to relax.

I hope so ,,,, I guess they are having the surgery done. Just want the breeder to pay for everything... we will see. Dozer seems fine,,, otherwise besides the Leg thing... its only the one side I guess thats why I am worried. But we will see more on Monday... as I said, I am NOT giving him back ...we will deal with it when it come's down to that point.

My pup does this same thing. At first we had him in a harness and he started really freaking out because it was rubbing under his arm. Once I took it off, he was fine.

Now, we just have the itchy collar. It is funny when he tries to scratch though while walking because he isn't coordinated and is all feet and usually ends up on his tailend. :)
