Hi all! I just adopted a 5 month old boxer female. She is showing the signs of puppy vaginitis. When we brought her home she was very playful and energetic. Today all she is doing is sleeping and laying around. We have a vet appt tomorrow morning. Any thing I could do to help her out a bit? Thanks :)

I was just at the Vet 2 days ago for some shots and to also check on puppy vag. (zoeigh has most of the signs aswell.) My vet told me that although she did infact have puppy vag., she doesn't give any meds for it because it is so common. She also said that it usually corrects itself as soon as the heat cycle begins and all the hormones regulate. Zoeigh is like..1 and 2 months now....but when she was younger (like your puppy) she used to go through "lazy days" like what your kind off describing. She would be crazy one minute and sleep for like hours and hours. In fact she still does lol.
Just thought i would give you some of my experiences. I hope there is nothing too wrong with your baby.

Thanks for the reply! I just would like to add that she was spayed 3 weeks ago and then her original owners gave her up. She still has stiches and I have read that if boxer pups show signs of puppy vaginits after spaying then there is a problem. Has anybody else heard of this? I'm getting concerned about my new addition to our family!

Stitches usually come out 10 days after spaying. I have never dealt with vaginitis so I can`t comment there.

I would take her to vet! It is certainly time for her stitches to come out and the vaginitis should be checked out!

I hope she is better soon. :)
