Puppy throwing up.

We've had our puppy since the 28th of December and ever since we've got him he's been throwing up his food. We've tried lot of different things like adding more water, adding less water, adding warm chicken broth and processing the kibble til it's really soft, now were going on trying feeding him 4 times a day. I'm running out of ideas.

This is orginally what we started doing:
We're feeding him Veterinarian Formulated Puppy food, as recommended be the breeder. We feed him 1/2 cup a day. 1/4 c. in the morning and 1/4 c. at night, with about a tbs. of warm water over it, also recommended by the breeder. And he's already had his first distemper shot. He's really active and plays alot. He doesn't hesitate to eat he'll eat his food in under a minute! And he's drinking plenty of water. I'm really confused as to why he's throwing up. It doesn't seem like he's digesting it all or something. Because it'll be hours after he's ate in the morning before he'll throw up.

He went to the vet today but the vet didn't really tell me much, just to start feeding him 4 times a day, and to keep softening it (if we want). But today after his second feeding he threw up all his food again. Any suggestions? I'm starting to get really worried.

I am not an expert on this, but it may be the food. Try another dog food. Do a search in the forums for food. You may want to try a bland diet of boilded chicken and rice. Yogurt is good too. The food a the grocery store is bad. There are some really good foods, but check here with others on their recommendations.Do a search for foods.

Hmm..what is veterinarian formulated food?

A good thing to do would be to check the food ingredients on the bag. Does it have lots of grains in it (white rice, corn, beet pulp, wheat, etc...)

I agree in that it sounds like his food is not agreeing with him. Now would be a great time to switch over to a premium quality kibble. If you do a search, you should come up with tons of info. Here's a short list of some great kibbles for you (in no particular order):

In my opinion it's a pretty good food but his stomach just doesn't seem to be handling it.

But today I did decide to try him on the bland diet, using hamburger and rice and so far he hasn't thrown up. He has alot more enerygy now too, compared to the last couple of days to where he was sleeping pretty much all the time. I'm just keeping my fingers crossed for now.

I'm posting the ingredients so that someone knowlegeable can join in with their 2 cents:

Chicken Meal, Brewers Rice, Chicken Fat (preserved with Mixed Tocopherols, a source of Natural Vitamin E), Fish Meal, Beet Pulp, Dried Whole Eggs, Brewers Dried Yeast, Flax, Dried Whey, Rice Bran, Natural Flavor, Dried Skimmed Milk, Monosodium Phosphate, Dried Cheddar Cheese, Garlic, Lecithin, Potassium Chloride, Salt, DL-Methionine, Choline Chloride, Vitamin E Supplement, Zinc Oxide, Ascorbic Acid, Copper Sulfate, Extract of Rosemary, Manganese Sulfate, Manganous Oxide, Biotin, Vitamin A Acetate, Calcium Pantothenate, Vitamin B12 Supplement, Niacin, Thiamine Mononitrate, Yucca Schidigera Extract, Riboflavin Supplement, Pyridoxine Hydrochloride (Vitamin B6), Menadione Sodium Bisulfite Complex (a source of Vitamin K), Vitamin D3 Supplement, Potassium Iodide, Folic Acid, Sodium Selenite

From what I've read, I believe the Brewers Rice is bad, chicken fat, beet pulp are all ingredients you want to avoid. I'm not too sure about the "brewers rice" -- but I'm sure someone else will know.

I would try switching the pup to a premium kibble, because it really does seem like the food is the issue with the pup. Wouldn't hurt to try!

I've completely took him off that food now and I'm going to feed them the hamburger with rice until I can get a chance to go out of town. I don't have time during the week to drive out of town because of my work schedule being 2nd shift. But I plan on picking up Canidae this weekend.

We're so far 24 hours without him throwing up!! Hopefully it'll stay that way.

Canidae's a great choice. My girl has been on it for 7 mos and she loves it. The trick is really to find a kibble that agrees with your pup's tummy and doesn't cause any of that infamous Boxer gas!

There's a lot of discussion on BW in other threads regarding good kibbles, in the event Canidae doesn't work out.
