Horatio is ten weeks old and is the "perfect" puppy (I may be biased). My question comes to when we are playing with him as he is full of energy. He loves to jump around and down into the praying position, meanwhile playfully barking and sometimes biting. He knows this is only play and will stop when tell him to. However, am I encouraging him to bark and bite or is this harmful puppy play?

Its fine as long as you start and stop the play and you have taught your little one how to be gentle so no one gets hurt. Also making sure he doesn't get over excited cause thats when things do tend to go wrong. During play I would just teach him the stop command so he learns that when you're done your're done not when he wants to be done.
Remember what is cute as a puppy may not be as cute as an adult, so as your playing with him think about when he weighs in at 70+ pounds how it will feel and start teaching him that now.
We did play with Nala like this when she was a pup and still do. She is almost 4yrs now. She generally isn't a barker and she knows how to stop and start play on a dime
She is very gentle also and we love playing rough with her and of course so does she

My only advice if you're rough housing... Be careful of the puppy nips. I had a couple of pairs of pants ripped this way. Those baby teeth are sharp!
I agree that as long as you can stop the play, then you're probably pretty good, although mine used to get a bit too worked up with it, so I no longer do this with her.
