Puppy NOT for sale --------- NEED ADVICE

Hi everyone. Please disregard our previous post about the sale of "Hunter". We took him into the vet today for a wellness exam and we are not pleased. He is full of worms and is in the beginning stage of "kennel cough". We are not experienced with boxers so we didn't know these things. We only took him b/c of our Vet's recomendation to have a newly bought puppy seen as soon as possible. We are now in a bigger state of confusion. We spent a ton of money this morning on a dog that we didn't want to keep anyway. The breeder said she would take him back but I would be responsible for the airfare. I can't believe she sold us a sick dog! We got his medicine b/c even though we are not keeping him, we love animals and couldn't see one sick. She said we didn't even have to do that. All she wanted was for us to send this sick dog on a cold plane ride back to Minnesota so she could sell him to some other unsuspecting, naive, couple with hearts bigger than brains! We don't want to keep him b/c we want a girl, but we don't want to send him back to her "puppy mill" either so what should we do? We thought she only breed boxers! When I called I found out during the conversation that she breeds over 32 different breeds of dog!!! WE are angry! Does anyone know of any type of organization we can call to complain about this type of abuse to animals and this deception to consumers? Any advice would be a great help. Thank you all so very much.

Sounds like you got yourself a puppy mill pup. These poor dogs withstand terrible often filthy conditions, without much human interaction. If you can't keep the dog, maybe you could call a rescue. They will vet her and then find a good home for her. Let us know what you decide! Also, I would find a reputable breeder for the next one.

Charmin, Thanks for your reply. We are so sorry to hear about the puppies health and that you didn't get the puppy that you wanted. We hope that you can get everything worked out so the puppy is fine and you can come to an agreement with that breeder.

Sincerely, LarryD

First of all, there should be somebody you can report this too. Also I agree find a rescue near you, see if they can help. I know that you wanted a female, but if you can get this guy healthy is there any way you would keep him? I would really like to know how much you paid this breeder and I also think I would report to AKC if the puppy is registered. Please dont put this guy back onto a plane to this horrible person.Keep us posted, my thoughts and prayers are with you.

I am so sorry to hear about your terrible experience, I definately agree with the other posts that you should not return that puppy to it's nightmare breeder!! God only knows what she'll do with him or who the next unsuspecting person will be that buys that dog. There are a few rescue organizations in the area, if at all feasible, give him to them to adopt to a responsible, well-informed new owner instead of that horrible puppy-mill breeder!

In order to keep this from happening to someone else, how did you pick this particular breeder?

Here is a link to the State Regulations. I would check the regulations for the state you live in and the state regulations from where your puppy came from.

Don't know if anything their might help or not. A lot of states do have *puppy lemon laws* now.

I would also notify AKC. They do need to be made aware of the problem(s) with this breeder.

I'm am very sorry to hear about your experience with this horrible breeder. Has "Hunter" been trested for the Kennel Cough? How much did you want for him? I live nearby and I am looking for a companion for my female boxer. Good Luck with him!! :)
