Regarding "Ritalin", a friend in my home town who goes by the name Pinky, has a license plate that says "Ritalyn". She's one of those moms who never stops, and she has three rambunctious kids (good kids, but full of energy), so I thought it was an especially humorous plate. Come to find that her given name is RitaLynn..... Oops!!!:o

I thought the name "Teeko" was really neat, and perfect for a boxer. There are so many great names in these forums. I really like Shaymus as well. I think you really have to watch the puppy and see what sort of personality he has. You don't have to pick the first name that comes along. Ruby was already named when we got her and I love her name. I think "Pearl" is an adorable name for a female pup.

R U a sports fan?

We will be selecting our new pup in the coming days from a local breeder. We have already chosen the name "Buccaneer the Renegade" - "Buc" for short (Bucky-poo will work great for those "precious" moments!). My husband and I are HUGE sports fans and chose this name based on our favorite sports team - The Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

If you are a sports fan this is a fun way to derive a name - you can choose names of your favorite players (i.e. "Gretsky", if you were a hockey fan).

Hope this provides another source of unique creative thought!

I had Pie's name picked out for her before I brought her home. My girls all have Pie in their name in honor of my first boxer, Ginger Pie. Pie's full name is Pie'Oh'pah, a mystical character in Clive Barker's Imajica that is created to serve the desires of the main character. Okay, so I got it backwards, I'm around to serve her wants!
Buddy came with his name, and no other one fit better. My boys have colors in their names, so he's Buddy Blue. Keller came from rescue name Mickey, but I had a Mickey as a child and felt he deserved a unique name. Since he "Helen Kellers" from dog dish to dog dish taking the best bites for himself, he is Keller Green. Their leashes, collars and bowls are color matched to each dog, too. With 3 almost identically marked fawn boxers I needed something to tell them apart!

That is definately one of those love/hate things...naming a puppy that is. My wife and I started visiting Tango when she was 3 weeks old and saw her regurlarly until we brought her home so we got a good indication of her personality. We debated names for the longest time so I finally told her to come up with a list of 20 names she liked. I picked 10 names from the list and gave it back to her. She picked five from that list and then I picked the final three. We ended up with Tango, Chaos and Banshee. We have a son who is almost three so we had him say all three names and he could pronounce Tango the best so Tango was the choice! When we decided the name we called the breeder and she called her by her name so now she is already starting to respond to her name and we have only had her for a couple of days. She also seems to be very well adjusted to the new home (very playful and not much whining or wimpering) and I think that was because she saw us several times before we brought her home so it is not a totally strange place. The breeder also sent several toys and a blanket home with us that had been in with the litter so Tango would have the smell of her litter mates when she came with us. It seems to help.

When you think of the right name you will know it because it will sound absolutely perfect, and remember it doesn't necessarily have to be a "name" it can be a word I kind of like argyle not a "name" but a print on a sock I find those type of names to be more original and alot of the time more amusing.

Good luck and don't worry it will come to you probably when you least expect it and aren't thinking about it.

What name did you guys decide on for your furbaby? I know it's been a while, but I was just wondering. How is he doing? Great I'm sure-they are such lovicon and of course little sometimes :p
