Hi!
Under 6months to a year I feed mine 3 times a day...use a high quality food...I use Fromm for the puppy and Wellness Core for my 1 1/2 year old and then I mix Evangers wet food into it...Follow the directions an the package for the amount according to the weight and you should be fine...Once a day they get salmon oil mixed into their food..it's good for their soft shiny coat and cardiovascular benefits as well! Of course they are not spoiled by the fact that I warm the wet food in the microwave before I mix it in their food!!
Good luck

That is pretty normal feeding for a puppy (depending on age). The quantity (handful) that you feed him will vary depending on the type of food you are feeding. Each food has a guideline for how much they should be eating per day based on their weight and sometimes age. This is a good starting point to figure out how much to feed. If you are feeding 3 meals/day you can just divide the total by 3 to figure out how much at each meal.
Puppies require at least 3 meals up to 6 months, I know some who spread it out to four, but that can be hard to do. Also, you could mix canned food in, or cook some meat to add in with the kibble, which is what I do. I pressure cook a bunch up, then freeze it. I bring out a container and mix with kibble for their nightly feeding (you could do it ever meal if you want). Also, Wellness and Evangers has great 95% and 100% meat you could add.
