I wouldn't even take your pup to the park until all the vaccinations are complete. Our vet recommended that our pups be confined to our yard until their shots were finished.

Some diseases like parvo are so easy to get. A lady I met at puppy class almost lost her pup to parvo - even though she took all the precautions! The vet told her that people can track parvo in on their shoes.

Anyways, I would just be overly cautious - there's lots of time for excursions when they get a little bit older!!! Congratulations on your new pup!!

If I am unsure about any dog's health or vaccinations, I keep my dogs away. Better safe than sorry.

I would wait, I would suggest that for any 2 puppies meeting just to be sure that neither one of your pups gets the other one sidk. I know its such an exciting time and you want them to have playmates but do allow them time to bond with you also. You say you are just getting Austin on friday, I would (and this is what I have always done) is have some quality time with Austin and your family for the first bit, because he is going to be pretty unsure and want to feel safe, it will allow you to forge a great bond initially. I think socialization is very important but since puppies are so tiny I would want to steer clear of other pups initially.

This is what I was going to say. Don't take your puppy ANYWHERE until his shots are done. Even if there are not dogs at the park at that moment, tons of them have been there earlier. They are peeing and pooing all over. That is how most illnesses are spread. All your pup has to do is touch affected Parvo urination and he can become infected.

Keep him home and say a prayer for the pet store pup. He is gonna need it :(
