Boxer Pal
Hi All,
When is the proper age to remove a Boxer from puppy food and place them on adult food? My boys are currently on Eukanuba large puppy and they are almost 7 months old. I have heard 6 months is the proper time for large dogs. My breeder suggested that 18 months is when she switches and then puts hers on a performance food for working dogs. Also Royal Canin has came out with a Boxer food , has anyone tried this ?

Thanks.

Wow - 18 months? I think that is the longest I've ever heard of. I think that most people (if they feed a puppy formula at all) switch to adult food by 4-6 months, when the greatest growth periods are over. A small minority continue to feed it until a year old. But I don't believe I've ever heard of anyone continuing on puppy food for longer than that.

There is some very good information about choosing a good dog food at www.boxerworld.com/feeding

Actually, no. I feed a natural raw diet.

I have seen the Royal Canin food though. It looks an OK food, and quite a lot better than the Eukanuba. Since the RC boxer formula is so new, I doubt you'll find many people who can comment on it from personal experience (as opposed to reading the ingredients) since they won't have fed it for very long.

Based on the ingredients, RC boxer formula is a lot better than Eukanuba, but I think RCs sensible choice range is better than either.
