I didn't do enough research before I got our pup, so good job in looking into it ahead of time!
Since I didn't know much about it, we went with Iams Smart Puppy (no good, you'll see). But after I found this website with all the information and links available, we decided to try something else. We started with Canidae All Life Stages which I've heard really good things about, but Java didn't really like it all that much. She ate it, but only because that was her only option and she would give us a look as if to say "yuck! this tastes gross. . . give me back my junk food!"
After that we switched her onto Timberwolf Organics Dakota Bison, which she LOVES! We're going to stick with that for a while.
My advice (for what it's worth):
1) look at all the threads on this website about feeding; just do a search and you'll find plenty
2) read up on www.dogfoodanalysis.com
3) a thread I found useful: http://www.boxerworld.com/forums/showthread.php?t=115700&highlight=nutrition
4) when 'gmacleod' posts information and links to other websites, read them! Probably the best information that I've found has been through gmac's posts
