Hi there..
The last time I posted a message I was asking about advice on breeding my boxer, Monty. We were successful through the guidance of our vet and a very beautiful bitch called Yoko. She gave birth 12 weeks ago to 3 beautiful pups. The bad news is that my beautiful Monty was knocked down and killed on the road 2 weeks after breeding, needless to say we were devastated and at the time losing a limb would have been an easier thing to lose! Anyway,....we now have an heir to the throne called Sprocket who is the most clever, lovable rogue you ever set eyes on. He is fab! My question is where can I get good nutritious puppy food in Ireland?
I have been feeding him Eukanuba dog food but have been reading here that this is bad for him!
Thanks a lot...

:( I'm sorry about your dog!!! You must be so sad. My thoughts go out to you...*hugs and licks from Porter*

On the food note....I'd love to feed my dog in Ireland! :)

I feed Porter Nutro Large Breed Puppy but I'm not sure if they have it in Ireland.....I like it b/c there is nothing bad in it, no byproducts or chemicals or that jazz. I'm open to food suggestions as well.
There are lots of food threads on the forum. Run a search and see what you come up with! Good Luck! :)

The brands available in the UK and Ireland are different from North America - so other than the yucky stuff like Iams, Eukanuba and Science Diet (which somehow manage to be global  ) you have to look at different brands. Doesn't mean there aren't good quality foods out there, it just means you need to look for yourself at the ingredient list to determine whether it's any good or if it's junk food. As a general rule, don't waste your time with anything that has a grain as one of the top 3 ingredients, or that has corn or corn meal in the top 5.

Here's a previous thread I found that has good links to previous Qs on UK foods. http://www.boxerworld.com/forums/showthread.php?t=63000

Thanks for your reply guys. Sprocket is the result of breeding Monty with Yoko. He is the absolute spit of his daddy and settled into our house like he was here before. He is only 12 weeks old and already he goes to the door to go out to the toilet....
I will check out some other foods and their grain content........what he does love and I used to give it to Monty once a week also is a tin of sardines (fish)in vegetable oil mixed in with his nuts....great for a shiny coat!

Burns?!

It is possible to get a few foods, which you can get in the US, for example the whole dog journal best dog food lists Burns Fish and Brown Rice as a very good food. Ive just started feeding my two this and they absolutely love it, Taz is five months and Maddy is 10 months after doing a bit of research on here I decided it wasnt neccesary to feed them a puppy food so they get the Fish and Brown Rice, however, the choice is upto you. If you go to www.Burns-pet-nutrition.co.uk they do supply to the UK and I believe to Ireland as well. You can send off for a sample and see if he likes it (this comes with a £2 off coupon for a 7.5kg/15kg bag!!) and then possibly order some more, my two get through a 15kg bag in about a fortnight so money off is great and plus its really cheap anyway a 15kg bag is only around £33!!!!. There are several other very good foods, which if he doesnt like Burns you could try, however, Im quoting my experience with this food and my two love it, especially seeing as Maddy is very picky.
