I have had sooo many flea problems with Bailey (white). So far this is working slowly. I have been giving ACV, garlic pills and using DE in the house, on her and Tyson and in the yard. I sweep the carpets every other day (throw out the bag if you don't put a flea collar in it) and make sure I get into the corners/baseboards.
When I first found fleas on her, I bathed her with flea shampoo and I got about 18 off her. Now I am maybe getting 3 or 4 off her every couple days. I have a small container with water and dawn in it that if I find one on her, I put it in there, and it dies almost instantly.
I am starting to bath her in Dawn as I don't like using too many chemicals on them.
I do use Frontline Plus also. May seem over kill, but we have had to bomb our house every year due to fleas!!

Thanks

Thanks, I washed the bedding and vacuume the place. Especially after my neighbour used a flea comb and was STILL finding fleas on him.

Just a tip, keep vacuuming like crazy for at least a month, even if you're not seeing fleas anymore. Their life cycle is so that, when the adult fleas seemingly "disappear" and you think you're rid of them, there is a whole new infestation in the pupae stage, buried deep within your carpet beyond the suction of most vacuum cleaners, and they are just waiting to hatch and start the cycle all over again in a couple of weeks. I know because we've been through it too! :p

Yep, took me 8 months to get our infestation problem under control when I lived in Louisiana (and we had VERY minimal carpeting). That was with giving the dog and cats flea baths every 10 days for a month, the cats were on Program the dog was on Frontline Plus I had bombed my house (only 960 sq ft mind you) TWICE and then had to spray the carpets and upholstry with a flea spray about every 30 days for 8 months before they were completely gone. We did finally get rid of them but it was a NIGHTMARE.

What "started" it was I went away for 3 weeks, my dog was at a friend's house and my cats were boarded at the vet so nothing was home for the little twits to feed on. So when I came home from traveling all day, walked up our stairs (which had that indoor/outdoor carpet) to put my (then) 8 month old baby to bed I walked back down the stairs and my legs were COVERED I mean completely black from my ankles to my knees. It was HORRIBLE.

So definitely keep on top of it because when my animals were in the house I had no clue our problem was that bad. 3 weeks of hatching eggs and no food source and boy oh boy they came out of every nook and cranny!

More Fleas!

I tried out a flea comb and found some more fleas on my baby. Have you tried these combs? The have very very fine teeth and hiding fleas are found no problem.

I hope I am getting ours under control finally. I bathed Bailey last night (in Dawn lavender scent) and only got 1 off her. There may have been a little one also, but couldn't tell if it was a little bit of dirt or a flea. Went down the drain too quickly. She isn't itchy and just enjoying herself today LOL. I will probably regret this, but the last couple days, I have only gotten maybe 1 or 2 off her.
I am going to dust her down with DE this morning when she gets up from her nap. I will be doing Tyson also, but he's a tough old man LOL. Not one on him!!
I also need to get my Frontline Plus today. Not sure if it helps or not, but better safe than sorry at this point.

BxrMommie,
We only have 1 bedroom upstairs (ours) with carpeting, and Mike's youngest DD went into one of the other bedrooms about a month ago (not being used, door shut) and she was covered with them. She is like Bailey, and a magnet for them. Mike walked in (he's like Tyson, don't bother him) and they covered him!!
We ended up setting off 3 bombs in about a week or so period. We set the first one off, and the buggers still jumped all over him when he went in a couple hours later. He then set another one off. Same thing. I got a different brand of fogger, and we set it off. It seemed to do the trick. I made him take his DD's junk out of there that was just laying on the floor, under the bed, and on the bed. 5 big garbage (the 42 gallon sized!) bags of clothes!! He sprayed flea spray in the bags and we set them outside. They are still out there waiting for her to wash them all. I refuse to do it. She's 20 and home all day.

So, she is going away this coming week, we are getting the cat flea dipped, and going to bomb the heck out of the house. We are going to stay at a hotel overnight and double up on the foggers. I have extra sweeper bags, I just need to get some flea collars or flea powder to put into the bags. I then put those into a bag, wrap and tie tightly and put out in the garbage.

Got to love this time of year, NOT!!!

I'd skip the flea dip on the cat and just put the cat on Program or Frontline Plus or Advantage instead. I almost had my cat die due to a flea dip so would HIGHLY encourage you to skip that and give the topicals or Program instead.

Thank you for the warning. I'll pick up something for her when I get for the dogs.
