Boxer Booster
dont get caught!
What a wonderful thing hindsight is.
We have bought 3 boxers over the last 9 years...
the cheapest outlay was Chief he was my first boxer & I loved him (still do he's at the bridge) dearly, he ended up though probably costing approx an extra 2500.00 in medical bills on top of what I paid for him in the first few years & then other meds later on... I paid $350.00 for him registered & show quality 9 years ago....(he wasnt show quality) he was monorchid, he also had a heart murmur, cardiomyopathy & a few other issues during his life do I regret getting him never he was from 1st time breeders
Our 2nd Boxer is Molly I paid a fortune for her 6years ago ($800.00 was a lot back then)..I waited two years to get her from this one specific breeder & she did all the testing & showed & had wonderful credentials & references, she interviewed me for 2hrs as well & it was the first time that I had gone through that... I have never had to outlay anything else for Molly except for her worming, Vaccines & desexing (she was show quality & breedable) but we were not ready for that..
Our 3rd boxer is Major he was expensive but not the most expensive one we looked at this time (outlay wise) we researched his breeders to wahat we thought was extensive but since we have had him (June we picked him up) we have spent approx another $1000.00 on him & he is by now our most expensive puppy & the costs are ongoing with weekly treatments now & whilst his breeders may have once been reputable & ethical...i think this has slipped extensively....
My point is that cheaper at the outlay doesnot mean you will come out in front... Whilst I love all my boxers & would not give any back the best quality dog has been my most expensive outlay at the start...not after I have bought them home
If cost is an issue now & if your breeder wants you to have the puppy they may let you make layby payments until it is ready to be picked up.But be prepared for the extra expense of being owned by a boxer, we allow $1000.00/mth for our dogs, food, toys, extra's & vet.
goodluck
