I need some help, advice or something... My baby is 12 weeks old tomorrow and she's been having diarrhea for 2 weeks now. It started two monday's ago the day I took her to her Vet's appt for more vaccinations. I told hte vet about it and brought in a stool sample.
He said that she was looking great and that she didnt have any worms, but that if her diarrhea persisted to let him know. Two days later I called cause she still ahve it bad, and he perscribed two types of medicine and told me to only feed her the puppy soft beef and rice food that I feed her. So I did and a week later she still had it, it wasnt as bad (not liquid) but pudding like...
So I called the Vet again and this time he gave me Eukenuba low residue puppy show and that was the ONLY thing she is to have to eat for 1 week. I feel so bad for her, she still has diarrhea and she HATES the Eukenuba food. The only way she will eat it is if I give it to her as treats while doing training.
She's very energetic and is still very happy but I am so worried about her! I took all her bones and Pig Ears away from her and wont let her near ANY plants outside just to see if it will go away, but as of today she still has it. The Vet told me to give the food at least a week to work, but I'm goign crazy. She's my baby and I dont want her to be sick...

Has anyone been through this? Are there any other suggestions that I should ask my vet about?? Thanks...

My Pup Is The Same!!

My pup is 10 weeks old and since we got him, he has had very loose stools. I took him to the vet and she gave him antibiotics incase there was an infection, and took a sample but it came back all clear. She put him on Canine I/D food which is easier for them to digest but he wont eat it. The vet said she wasnt to concerned about him because he was very active (he never stops and i dont think he sleeps!!!) and he is gaining weight every week. He is my first boxer and i thought he was going to die!! I know what your going through!!!

I would try feeding your puppy boiled chicken and rice and then add a tablespoon of plain canned pumpkin (not the pie filling) before feeding.

I hope your puppy is better soon.

I went through the same thing with my 10 year old Boxer and while we were trying all my local vets suggestions (ie. changing diet, medication) it turned out he had cancer and valuable time was lost with all the things we tried. I don't mean to scare you, but if the diarrhea is still a problem, I would really suggest you bring your puppy to a specialist. I find that local vets are good for the small and simple stuff, but when it comes to major things, you're much better off with a bigger practice that has specialists. Good luck!

Good News Update

Thanks for all the suggestions, I have a good update... I fed Jazzy the intestinal food and for the first 3 days there was no change, but for hte last 3 days she's been having regular stools!! I'm so happy, I was so worried. We are still feeding her the special food and are starting to slowing incorporate her soft food into it, then will slowly wean her back onto her puppy food is there are no otehr problems. We are also slowly starting to give her the chew toys and bones back... one a day just to make sure she dosent get her symptoms back.

So as of right now, she's doing great and feeling better. Hopefully it was just a little bug and she's over it now!!!

Thanks Again.
