Fellow boxer owners, when do they stop biting???? Lady is 9 months old and although I know she is not really biting (because she could probably take a chunk out of me) she does enjoy her daily singing and biting time. Many have told me to use the bitter apple or try hitting her on the nose, but I prefer not to use either of these methods. Will she ever outgrow this????

Also, what do you think they get out of lying on their backs with their legs straight up for long periods of time. I watch her and wonder just what is she thinking of???????????

They sure do keep you laughing.............................

She shouldn't be biting you by this time - she should have learned that is a no-no. You can do a search on here for "biting" or "puppy biting" and you will find lots of threads dealing with this subject.

When they lie or sleep upside down like that, I always think they are saying they feel really secure and happy where they are because they are exposing their bellies and sensitive under-parts that way and are not worrying about being bothered or attacked by a predator.

In our house, biting is NEVER acceptable, even the puppy biting. When Daisy was first brought home at 8 weeks old, when she tried to mouth us, we would divert her attention to a chew toy and/or put her in a sit immediately. IMHO, I don't think any teeth to skin contact should be tolerated. This is not a good habit!
Also, hitting them in the nose will do nothing but compound unacceptable behavior. This sometimes will backfire and your dog may get defensive. I am not an expert, however, our Daisy who is no 11 months old has not had a biting problem. Even when she plays roughly and opens her mouth, she never makes contact with our skin.

As far as upside-down laying, I was just watching Daisy tonight as she was laying like that with her monkey toy's tail in her mouth for about 20 minutes! Too funny:p
