I think everything I have said in this forum has been completely misunderstood! I love getting advice from other boxer owners! I said in the first post he is just being a puppy! My female is never aggressive towards people nor animals and I do try to learn as much as I can about the breed of boxer. Hope this clears up any confusion and I only want the best for all of our dogs! :)

I'm sure you don't want to hear it again but it's all normal puppy stuff, him putting his paws up on top of a dog is him playing, Raleigh still does that and he's 5, he'll also wrap his paws around another dog's neck, again just playing....they play a lot with their paws, boxer's are so extremely energetic, very noisy/vocal, just fun loving clowns:)

Raleigh is so vocal playing with other dogs, sounds like he's getting angry but he's not, other boxer owners know this but we do have to reassure others this is just the boxer way:)

I agree with everyone. He is just being a puppy. My pup is almost a year now, and when we first got her she would try to jump on us and others to get attention. You are doing the right thing by making your pup sit and not reinforcing the behavior. When we went through training class they had us ignore the behavior and only allow her to get attention when she was sitting. If she got up, ask the person to stop petting until the pup is calm again (calm or sitting works the same, as long as the pup isn't continuing the behavior). Sounds like you are both just still learning whats normal and training. Training classes are great for first time owners (like I was too). We did a puppy training at Petsmart and enjoyed it. And so did my pup. :) It's also good socialization. Good luck and enjoy your new bundle of joy!

You were not misunderstood. You were questioning whther he was displaying dominance. Its a common mistake made by new dog owners. You hear it all the time from people that don't know anything about dogs, and from "experts" that make you believe they know something about dogs. So we are always quick to explain to new dog owners that they can basically eliminate that word from their dog vocabulary, becuase with puppies, its just not relelvant. puppies are not dominant. So, we were all just trying to make sure you got the right answer to your question. Enjoy your puppy. They are loads of fun, and work. lol.

Actually, TawnysMommy is not the OP - but it was this comment that got my attention:

TawnysMommy said:
The aggression and dominance issue is his way of testing and challenging you.

No, no! I only used "aggressive and dominant issue" because I was simply referring to the behaviors as they were described by the OP. Simply puppy behavior commonly misunderstood as something more involved. I do understand this.
