Puddles

Has anyone else come accross a puppy afraid of puddles? Zoey won't go near them. In fact when we pass one (and there are tons in Squamish) she will stop and look at me like "I'm not going ANY further". Of course this is not an option because... puddles are everywhere here. But she will back up and refuse, and I either have to pick her up and carry her, (not teaching her anything), or hold her collar and lead her past as I crouch beside her. Has anyone else come across this problem? Or can you think of anything that might get her past her fear of the scary puddles?

Garbage Cans

No, I cannot say that my boxer is afreaid of puddles. It could be that you pup is still young and will get through it. Mine is afraid of garbage cans. He used to completly dart the other way a few months ago. But now he just walk faster to get by them. My advice, Give it time.

Luka used to get afraid of the silliest things when he was a puppy- he is still afraid of aluminum foil

she's just 3 mths old..

she'll outgrow that fear and develop others..hahah. My Blizzy was terrified of those plastic bags you get at the grocery store. Mind you, if there were something IN the bag, for example just coming home from the grocery store, she had no problem but God forbid I take one out empty..she'd crouch, growl, her hair would stand on end..and either try to rip it to shreds or high tail it the other way and hide out...I do recall Blizzy being afraid of storm drains when she was a wee pup..around your pups age..

Kaboom doesn't like water...in any way shape or form....rain, puddles, pools, hose...nothing. If it is raining outside....he will stand at the open door and stare at me like I have 3 heads....like he is saying "Hey Momma, I am not crazy....it is pouring rain out there...I am NOT getting wet--I will hold it. Thanks!"
He is 5 years old and we have had him for almost 2 years now....that has not changed....it is funny though...their little "pet peeves and quirks"

Yeah, she is afraid of drains, too. But puddles are everywhere. Zoey was 3 months exactly on Christmas Day. She just looks so scared when we have to go out in the rain... because the scary puddles will get her!!!

Poor Zoey! Those scary scary puddles. You are going to have to get used to them. You live in B.C..

Zoey could be going through a fear period. Don't force her and hopefully she will get over it.

Where abouts in B.C. do you live?

My Sandy doesn't like puddles either. I never thought of it as being a fear thing. I just figured she's to much of a lady to dampen her feet in a puddle. She loves to romp in the creek when the weather permits. But she will walk a block out of her way to avoid stepping in a puddle! :D

Nope, I can't say my boy is scared of puddles but he doesn't like the rain.
Hopefully your baby will get better as she gets older, Koa is still kind of scared of every thing & he's 6 months. I guess in time it will get better!

Indy is almost 2 and he REFUSES to walk thru a puddle. We have a spot in our driveway that the water runs over when it rains and he will jump over it every time. Go figure he will cross the small stream in our backyard with no problem.
