When are you most proud of your boxer?

I'm the most proud of Clemmy when she shows just how very far she's come since coming to live with me. I took her for an extra walk today just because I needed to work off some steam. When we got back to our street, we passed a tipped over trash can with her only giving it the slightest of concerned looks and she immediately came over to investigate when I encouraged her to. A few minutes later, a very loud ATV passed us and she just watched it while tense but she didn't try to bolt. Both of these things used to be ermehgawd-so-scary to her and I haven't really had a chance to work with her on either one. She makes me a proud (sorta) boxer mommy.

appicon Good for Clemmy! And good for you as well! She is trusting you to protect her and not put her in a dangerous situation and that is something HUGE!

As for the proudest it is how gentle my pups are with wee little ones. I have no children and the children who I used to live near where all 5 and up. My dogs have always been great with them. Thor is just a gentle soul and I have never worried about him around anyone. In fact he is very soft and I have more pictures of children hugging him. (My biggest regret was not making him a therapy dog.) Arabella on the other hand has always been a crazy, hyper dog. I was afraid she would just bowl over the toddlers. To my surprise she totally calmed down and would lay down and let them pet and kiss her. It was amazing to watch. Of course her favorite age group is 5-10 year olds. They have the same never ending pool of energy just like her. :)

I've always been very conscientious about not forcing her to do anything she finds scary and I always have let her take her time while encouraging her to investigate.

Clemmy doesn't much like little kids just because of they're loudness. Though when they start crying, she looks over at them to see what's going on and becomes very alert. She hasn't had much interaction with little ones while with me but the few times she has, she's been very calm and gentle and lets me know when she's had enough by sitting between my legs.

Another thing Clemmy's great about is people who are scared of dogs. She immediately starts loving on them more then she would for an average visitor. She will literally sit there licking them until told to stop or the person leaves. It's kind of hilarious to watch someone whose super scared of dogs have a big Boxer licking their face. (If they ask we make her stop, of course, and sometimes put her in a different room.)
