Has anyone experienced projectile diahrrea with their Boxer? My parents' male, Brutis, has been struggling with diahrrea for some time now. He has been to the vet twice and nothing is really working. At this point, and this is how it started, he is literally shooting poop a good three feet out from where he squats.

He has had it tested for parasites, been on antibiotics, we have changed foods twice (slowly of course) and also tried a bland diet (beef/chicken with rice). He doesn't appear to have any other symptoms, except he is slower, but he just turned 9, so that is par for the course. Any ideas, suggestions?

Just one question though, how many courses of antibiotics has he been on,it may be making the runs worse.

He had two courses of antibiotics, but none for about a month.

He has stopped eating now, so I am staying home from work so he can go to the vet in the morning. I am going to request some blood work. We also think he ate a medical glove yesterday, so he will probably have to get xrays again, they did that last time to rule out obstruction (good thing b/c they actually found a ton of gas in his belly, appeared he was going to bloat). Hopefully we can get some answers this time!

Nasty sore on scrotum

So looks like something is wrong with Brutis' intestines, they said his blood proteins were very low. We need to get an ultrasound and endoscopy so see if we are dealing with something like colitis or IBD or something more like a tumor.

We are hoping for the best. My grandmother just got out of the hospital after a month and he is her baby. I would hate for it to be something serious, I think it would crush her and I am afraid it will impact her recovery.

On a side note, because of his poo dripping down his butt, he has developed a large sore on his scrotum. The vet gave us a wash for it and we have been trying diaper cream, but he is so much discomfort. Anyone have any other suggestions, he just looks so pitiful.

Well, Brutis is off for a consult with an internist on 6 Sep. So we will see how that goes. He really looks sick and we are hoping for the best. I will let everyone know what the internist says. Thanks for all your thoughts!

projectile diarrhea

Have the vets done any bloodwork for giardia? Butler had this a few years ago; actually got it at a vet's we were using at the time. He was sick for a long time, and the diarrhea was awful. After many months of special meds and special diets and lots of love and attention he was fine.

In about a weeks time, he had lost from nearly 80 lbs. to 67 lbs., and I was scared to death. Thanks to a wonderful, new vet, Butler is now just over 5 years old, and back to his 80 lbs.

Hoping everything turns out OK with your boy.

Cheryl, and Butler
