Well tried the yoghurt trick tonight and that worked a treat :D

I am very suprised about what you say about Pedigree foods, as you know Pedigree in the UK is bigged up on TV as being the best in the retail market, what you have told me has shocked me tbh...

It's really marketed here in the US, as is Science Diet and they're basically both crap. It's a shame. . .most people think they're feeding a good food and know no better.

glad to hear about the yogurt - i got the idea on here for my pup to help reduce her smelly gas - i also put a frozen cube in her kong to keep her amused for a while in her crate. :D

as for the pedigree, i too was surprised when i first found out about it - put out a thread asking what exactly is in it & a moderator while let you know.

welcome to bw it's full of great tips & everyone just wants to help you & your furbabies. :)

Weeeelll - it might interest you to know that many petfood manufacturers are mostly owned by the big multinational human food and cosmetics industries. That's actually quite logical, if you think about it, because pet food gives them an outlet for the waste products of their other industries.

Most petfood manufacturers make a range of different foods, from the real basic crappy formulas through to at least a mid-range, if not a premium food.

When it comes to Pedigree, that's owned by Mars Inc. And Pedigree is their basic crappy supermarket food. They also happen to own Cesar, Whiskas, Sheba, Kitekat, Pal, Chappie, Bounce, Royal Canin (majority shareholder)
and James Wellbeloved (plus several other US brands). Most of those are low end foods sold through supermarkets, the Royal Canin is mostly a mid range food (though some formulas are low end, and some high), and the James Wellbeloved is a mid to high end food.

Well i went to the pet store on the way home tonight and picked up a pack of James Wellbeloved. Got back and fed shaddow, again, he was not interested, i read their directions and tried adding a little warm milk, hey presto he woofed it down.

I think Shaddow's just a dairy product nut. Fussy little begger isnt he haha.

Science Plan is the same as Science Diet. Sorry to say, a very overpriced, very low quality food.

Well, it's sad to say that the options aren't that great in the UK. The only truely decent food that was here was recently withdrawn (that was Fromms Four Star (only Four Star, not the gold) - no idea if they'll bring it back or not, but if you ever see it, grab it LOL).

The next best thing you can get is probably James Wellbeloved, then Burns. Both are readily available in petstores or online.

On the upside, the UK is a pretty good place to feed a natural raw diet (as I do). Plenty of butchers and other good sources for meat at reasonable cost.
