Hi everyone, I am looking for some advice. Our bitch is pregnant and is almost 3 days overdue approx. She has just started bleeding which is watery and light red. Is this the sign over the puppies coming, I am nervous that she may be losing her litter and will contact the Vet pending your advice.

Thanks!!

Don't wait for our advice - GO TO THE VET! The health of your bitch and her puppies takes priority over everything else right now.

I have already contactedthe vet and he said as long as the bleeding does not go dark red to black everything is okay and it should be the onset of puppies. I am to watch for red and or red/green to indicate the immediate arrial, within twenty minutes. Nervous times.

If the bitch is three days overdue and bleeding and not in actual labor, I would take her in. Sadly, I don't trust many vets to give correct advice. Has she been nesting? It does not sound at all right. Take her in.

I had a friend lose all but one pup and almost lost the bitch because the vet kept saying all was well, when the breeder wanted a cesarean. She called another vet and the only pup to survive out of nine was one born before the bitch showed problems. The uterus had torsioned and the bitch was very, very close to death.
