Hi everyone,

I haven't posted on here for some time now, although you were the first people i thought of when trying to get through the next few days.

Ellie, my darling little baby, who i love more than words could ever explain is yet again having a hard time.

Ellie is now 18months old... from a few months old up until November 04 she suffered a great deal.. she was diagnosed with Osteochondrosis, she had both of her front legs operated on and had to live in a cage for a number of weeks to recover. Her recovery was better than i ever imagined.. she is no different from any other boxer, she has a love of life that chokes me. She is on medication which is a suppliment to prevent arthritus causing her to much problems at this early stage.

Now another hurdle... How we are coping i just don't know. A lump appeared on Ellie's face just over a week ago.. we saw a vet on Wednesday evening who was concerned that it was a mast cell tumour, she was booked to have this removed the following day (Thursday). I'm sure you know that when they are going to operate on a dog they do a routine test to make sure all organs are working well.... We have now been told that her kidneys are not funtioning right and they are unable to operate at the moment as they are concerned she has kidney disease!!!

A piece of the lump was taking to be sent for examination.. we are now waiting for the results to confirm if she has or hasn't got a mast cell tumour... should get the results tomorrow. Some tests have also been done to determine if Ellie has got a kidney infection or whether she is unlucky enough to have kidney disease.. results for this should be in on Monday.

We are praying that the lump is cancer free and she has only a kidney infection which can be sorted out... the vet has advised that if she has the tumour and kidney disease... the outcome is bleak... they will be unable to remove the tumour as she would most likely suffer kidney failure following the operation... this means leaving the tumour to spread :o(

Please pray for Ellie every spare moment you have... As ellie's mummy pray for me to as i need to be strong over the next few days for her.

Does anyone know why we are going through this???? Ellie doesn't look poorly, she is a lively happy little girl!!!

Thanks for your time,

Love and best wishes,

Vicky and Ellie xxxxxx

Oh my, I know all too well what you are going through and my heart goes out to you. Poor, Ellie, she has been through so much. I know that certain arthritis treatments/medications can impair kidney function, so you may want to discuss this with your vet. Will keep you both in my thoughts and prayers in hopes that her kidney problems resolve and that the lump proves to be benign. Will be anxiously waiting for an update ~ Cathy

Oh my goodness. I'm so sorry to hear you're having to go through this. It doesn't seem fair after Ellie has already had to endure so much. You will both be in my thoughts and prayers and I hope you get some positive news from the tests. Please keep us posted on how she's doing, poor baby. Sending lots of positive vibes and (((huge))) hugs from me and Spud.
