PPA to Treat Incontinence?

Isis is 10 1/2 years old, very good about asking to go out and also at holding it during the day. She has started peeing in the house everyday - just once while we are at work. We come home to one puddle every day now for the last week. We are taking her to the vet to see if she has an infection or if this is due to incontinence. I have read about PPA (phenylpropanolamine) (PPA) to treat incontinence. Does anyone know if there are any side effects from this drug? Isis also has inflammatory bowel syndrome and is on medication for it.

You may want to try the fresh parsley approach first for treating the incontinence. Some say a tablespoon every day does the trick.

Dixie has spay incontinence and has been on small doses of PPA for several years now. The only change it makes in her is that she (and her bed/my bed/the sofa) stays dry. The vet prescribed one pill daily but said she can take less if it works. We have found that a half a pill every other day does the trick. It has been valuable for Dixie because she would look so sad when she would wake up in a puddle or when she would see me coming with a thick towel to lay under her bottom to keep things dry.

It sounds more like a urinary tract infection than incontinence. Usually with incontinence they will have a puddle under them while they are sleeping, or obviouse unconsious dripping. If she's squatting and you are only seeing it in one spot (as opposed to on her bed, or drip marks throughout the house) she is probably doing it consiously.
