I have my first boxer puppy that is now 11 weeks old. He goes everytime I take him outside. He stays in his crate for about 7 hours without going to the bathroom, so I know he can hold it. If he is out in the house, I take him out about every hour or so. Never fails, we have about 8 clean-ups in a day when we are home (I wash it up with cleaner). I know he goes when I take him out each time. What to do?

Do you take him out often? I found with mine I had to take them out like every half hour or so in the beginning. They did the same thing. I knew they went outside, but they would still go inside. I just had to let them out a lot more! They don't always tell you when they are puppies that they have to go out!!! You just have to think they always have to go!!!

I thought about a urinary infection but he is on an antibiotic for a cold so I thought he shouldn't have one. I will just try to watch him closer but we are all amazed at the number of times he can "go" in a day. When we are at work he goes for 7 or 8 hours without an accident in his cage(I have a wire cage for the house that he is using instead of the crate now).

Do a search here for "bell training"--My Layla was 10 weeks old and she learned in one day!! It is such a great way for them to "tell" you when they need to go--Boxers are so smart--a lot of them learn this method so quickly--Layla is now 13 mos old and I still have the bells hanging on the door from last x-mas and she rings them everytime I'm not paying attention!!

Part of it is that while you aren't home, he probably just sleeps...that's why he's able to hold it so long. When you are home and he's more active, he's just naturally going to have to go more often. He's still really young, so you'll just have to be patient until his bladder is more developed so he can hold it longer while he's awake. I'm actually surprised to hear that he already makes it 7 hours...that's a long time for a puppy that age.
