Potty Training Poll

buster was potty trained by about 4 four months. He had a few accidents after that point but most were my fault (questioning his signals, not getting up fast enough, etc). He certainly lets us know that he needs to go. We never used wee pads and newspaper was a disaster- he ate it! As long as i came home on lunch to let him out he was fine. Also we took up the water bowl around 8pm.

Shotze will NOT go in her crate at all. I left her at the vet for her first ivermectin treatment and she held it from 9 am to 2 pm. If she needs to go out, she barks. One problem...she lies. She knows if she barks, she gets to go outside. She will squat and then lay down and roll in the grass. So I have to tell her it isnt playtime and bring her back in. Well, one day I got tired of the lying and told her no. She looked right at me and peed on the floor. SO, now im going to invest in a bell and teach her its for going outside to potty. (little fart is so smart, she will probably ring it to go play too) Gotta love 'em. 4 months old and already a little lier.

emma is 6 mo. old and still isn't totally house broke. but she's only been w/ me for two weeks, so i've not got to work with her all that much yet.

but she hasn't had any mishapps in her crate.

[Sugar's Mom]

We got Sugar at 9 weeks, had her trained in 5 days (brilliant pup ). Then just at 6 months she went through a brief period of I-don't-know-what, rebellion or just Mother Nature, and she started having accidents again, exactly as my boxer book said might happen. We got over that in maybe a week, and she has been perfect ever since. I think that the time my hubby caught her in the act, scooped her up while raising his voice in a firm NO NO NO! was what made her get the message! She has been perfect ever since.

I can't quite remember how long it took me to house train my boxer (that was almost 9 years ago) but I think it was only about a month.(if not less)
I got my mixed breed when she was 3 months and it took her about 5 months! And my Bichon Frise has been really really hard to train! I got her at 5 months old, her previous owners didn't do much training but she is now 18 months old and to tell ya the truth, I don't trust her. Matter of fact she pooped on my stairs last week!!!! AHHHHHHHHHH!!!
