Potty Training Poll

I need some help with my 7 week year old puppy. Right now i am leaving him in a crate when i am not home. But want to eventually want to leave him in the house without putting him in his crate when he is older and can hold it. Now if i leave him in a room with pee pee pads am i counter acting not to go pee in the house when we are home? I dont want to confuse hime PLEASE HELP!!!

We put Jaz in her crate at night, and when we are not home. Otherwise she rings her bell when she wants to go out. She still has accidents when we are not paying her proper attention. She has never had an accident in her crate (knock on wood), however she does not have full run of our house. She has never been upstairs, but does follow us into the back rooms on the main floor. only have some luck

Metoo, is 11 months, going through the potty training we got her three weeks ago, she still has errors. Including going in her cage sometimes. What age should they be able to hold it through the night? Now she spent most of her life in cage, so how do I break her from using the cage?

We got Nikki at 12 weeks old, and she was fully trained by the time she was 16 weeks old. She was a very quick learner when it came to that; but obedience was another story, .

Nicki sounds like Abby, she was about the same with the occasional accident.

Our Tyson is 3mo and still trying. We don't get warnings yet. If we don't take her out in a timely manner she will still go where she pleases. She also has no problem going in her crate.

We're working on potty training right now. Abigal will be 9 weeks tomorrow. She still goes in her crate usually only pee pee ..sometimes the other.

The other day we went out for supper only gone for an hour or so. I'm not sure what happen but when we returned she had went poo and somehow slung it all over the crate. It was hanging on the side bars.. not sure how she did that but she did. She was a mess my husband had to bath her while I cleaned the crate.

She's always crated when we're not at home. She has had a few accidents but there has been a few times that she ran to the back door as if to say "I have to go out" and we follow right behind her. I don't know if she's really understanding or just wanting to go out an play. I will say she does go when she gets outside so maybe ..just maybe ..she's beginning to understand. Patience is the key..

Those potty training days are all coming back to me now You're right, patience is the key! Basil only peed in his crate once and never pooped but near the door is a different story. Anyway, are you sure the crate is small enough to discourage her from messing where she sleeps? We blocked the excess room in Basil's crate until he grew into it. Also, our trainer suggested bells on the door because Basil wouldn't "tell" us when he needed out. We did this when he was 4 months and it worked in two days!!! I can't remember the last time he messed in the house Just a thought.

Potty training

My two are 11 mths old and it seems a long time ago.
We used the crate and newspaper way and it worked for us by 4 mths we were done and dusted.
Only trouble we had when we first put them in the crate in the car, we put newspaper in and they associated it with doing there business. That was our fault. The only other time since is if the boys have been stressed and we understand don't make a fuss and don't have any other problems.

Potty Training...

1 week of taking him outside every 30 min .
Then about 4 weeks of ringing a bell hung on the door knob and he is now bell trained to ring it when he has to go.

He was trained by the time he was about 3-4 months old... he is now 8 months
