Potty Training, How to get a sign

Ok, so for the most part my girl Bella has been pretty good with the potty training. She is now 5 and a half months old but still has the occasional accident. I'm in a lucky situation as I work from home, so I'll take her out often and frequently for walks or potty breaks. However, she still provides no signs on her own. Sometimes she'll sit by the door, but a lot of times that's just because she enjoys looking outside through the glass. I have not tried bell training and I make her sit by the door before taking her out each time. When she is done I praise her and typically give her a treat. Which is probably why I don't have more accidents inside my house. She's never had an accident in her crate either, which is nice.

She refuses to give me signs, is there anyway you can force a sign? I'm lucky she doesn't bark yet, but something would be nice, should I try and get a bell and work that way so there is a sign?

I guess I let myself get frustrated occasionally. Today for example I let her out and it's a cool day with a little rain, she went out and pee'd. Came back in and while I was making lunch went and pooped right on the carpet. I think it was only 5 minutes after I had let her out.

Well, I dont think you can "force" a sign. Charlie never really stood by the door to be let out until he was a little older. I just had an eagle eye on him until then. But every time we went out I made sure he did both or if he didnt that he had the time before. Accidents were usually my fault for not staying out long enough or not taking him out after he played hard or took a nap. She will get it eventually she is still a baby.

Jersey always wants to go out so she was more difficult at first. She likes to chase critters.

Charlie now waits by the door or gives me a whine-yawn combo until I get up.

Just wondering if you had any luck? Am in the exact situation. Shes just peed on the door mat AGAIN cause we didn't notice her sly out the room to the back door. As normal no sound just saw her come back in the room and went to check and well like I sad AGAIN.

potty training

If your boxer is still pretty young, I would suggest bells....I have had two previous to the current boxer. Ava would never give me a sign. She would play with the bells at the door. She wouldn't use them often but sometimes. I would say bells may be your best bet and make sure you ring them on way out so she/he gets the idea.

I trained Titan to ring bells. It worked like a charm. He was one to not do anything to tell us he had to go out. I always knew because I could see it on his face, but I couldn't expect my kids to watch him that closely. So getting him to ring the bells made the most sense for us.
