For some reason our 3 month old potties in his crate everytime we are gone, even if it is for a couple hours. We make sure and take him potty before we leave, but when we get back there is wet spot on the sheet that is almost dry, which tells me he probably peed right away. His crate is a small one and he has almost graduated out of it. We really don't know what do. I don't understand how he can hold it while laying on the couch with us for hours, but he can't hold it while in his crate. Everyone I have talked to said that boxers like to be clean and they won't pee where they have to lay. I don't understand! Any suggestions?

Spike is 14 weeks and he still does it. I have to make sure he goes 1 and 2 before I put him in there so that no accidents happen. At nights when I crate him, 1 day out of 10 he may have an accident but almost never and he usually sleeps throughout the entire night without any accidents. Its just when I leave during the day and he gets crated that most of his accidents occur. Even if its for an hour or 2. I think its because since he is wide awake, he sometimes gets excited and wants to play outside and the excitement leads him to potty. I ain't no scientist but thats what i think.

It could be anxiety, but he is still very young too.

What's your crate routine when leaving him alone??

Do you leave any background noise eg. tv, radio??

Any toys, treats eg. Kong??

We leave him with his favorite toy, and his nyla bone that he loves. We always give him a treat after he goes in his crate and praise him. I think we just need to give it time. Sometimes I wonder if he gets excited when he hears the garage door open and close. I don't know.
