potatos?

I did a search and couldnt find anything that I was looking for, so sorry in advance if this has been a previous topic. I remember hearing somewhere that potatos were bad for dogs. Though I have read a lot of posts about dogs eating potatos or french fries and that kind of thing. Was wondering if there was any truth to this or if its some kind of common myth.

Nope. Potatoes are ok for dogs. In fact, it is quite commonly used as a binding agent in some kibbles, more specifically "low allergen" formulas. It's believed that potato is easier to digest than other grains used in the manufacturing of dog food.

What you should avoid is green potatoes, or potatoes which have begun to sprout. Those are not good for human and dog alike.

Sweet potatos (yams) are okay for dogs. And yes, they are a hypoallergenic filler. The only problem I have heard regarding potatos and dogs are regular potatos can aggravate arthritic conditions.
