Does anyone know if it is okay for my boxer puppy to eat potroast? I cook it in dark beer for about 8 to 10 hours in a crock pot and a piece fell on the floor. she seemed to enjoy it and I figured any ETOH would have been cooked off, about a half hour later she became very very high energy like I had never seen before, we played outside for about 15 to 20 minutes and she went to sleep. the next morning she wasn't herself and vomited two times..and now she seems herself. Any thoughts on this would be appreciated from a new dog owner.

I wouldn't be too concerned, sounds like it was maybe a little rich for her, but she should be fine.

I wouldn't think that the pot roast would cause a problem.

as for the beer.... I found out by mistake how much my dog loves beer!!! But yeah, it's been cooked, not much alcohol left and as far as I know tiny amounts of beer won't cause damage :)

I bet she loved it and wanted more!!

My last boxer took my sunday roast beef off the worktop and ate the lot in minutes, enough for 7 people, cooked in cider, not a shread left and it didn't take a fidge out of him.
He left us hungry and eating a not so nice dinner :)

Unless there was some onion with the roast I wouldn't be concerned. And even with the onion if it wasn't much I don't think I would be concerned unless the upset tummy sticks around, then I would head to vet.

Mine did this with a roasted chicken, bones and all. Not only did my husband end up with Taco Bell (fast food tacos) but we had a $400 vet bill as well.

Toby once took an entire Easter ham off the counter where it was sitting to cool. Luckily he only ate about two pounds of it, but he was banished outside until my TEMPER cooled! :)

So thankful my boxer girl will not touch anything no matter how much she likes it unless I give her permission. I could sit a whole roast, chicken, ham etc on the floor by her and she will not touch it unless I tell her she can.

I didn't tach her this...She is a rescue and just does this on her own.

Wow I wouldn't trust Roge as far as I could throw him to do that !!! However my parents had a Lab a few years ago and my Dad would make him sit when he put his food bowl down because he used to jump on him with excitement, anyhow one day he told him to sit and put his bowl down but forgot to tell him to eat and an hour later went outside and the poor dog was sitting in a puddle of drool still waiting to eat ( poor fella ).

We'll get there someday. She's really good about waiting to eat until I tell her it's okay, however I guess we need to work on the floor droppings. :0)
