Hi hope you can help (havent been on BW in a while however have a new pup and didnt get much help at the vets so thought you guys might have info on this situation)

Cornelius is 16 weeks and was in his bean bag being stroked/played with then all of a sudden let out this loud high pitched cry and started screaming, his body went ridged and he arched his back backwards and his legs went out straight, i automatically though he has hurt his back so i was saying dont touch him...then he pooped (what at the time looked like blood) but but looked more like stuff from their anal gland, and then he peeded himself. It seemed like minutes but i think the whole thing lasted 6/10 seconds. It really knocked us for 6 and was horrid. He laid there looking a bit sheepish for a while then started coughing, he got up went outside and proceeded to cough. I called the vets and took him up there, they did all the usual temp, feeling tummy back etc and said they think he may have had trapped wind  Since we have been home he has been coughing alot like gagging and i am not entirley sure i buy the whole 'wind' thing. I dont want to go panicking but i feel it may have been more like a fit. if anyone has any info or can just confirm i am being an over protective mum and it is probably wind lol...

Sounds to me like a seizure of some sort. I would definitely go for a second opinion. I'm curious as to why the vet didn't conclude a seizure just based on your description of the fit. Sounds just like the fit my staffy would have. Her's caused by medication.

I'm with Independence. Hope this is not the case but my Bailey had a similar experience. No yelping but she collapsed, back arched, legs stiffened out strait, pooped and peed herself. Holter Monitor revealed she had an arrhythmic cardiomyopathy - essentially an irregular heartbeat that deprives her brain of oxygen.

Best of luck to you.
