popping joints

My Sandy is 3.5 years old. I have noticed when she gets off the couch or out of her crate her back legs popped and cracked.

I took her to the vet, he said he thinks her knee is jumping out of line when she gets up and the only way to fix it is with surgery. She plays all the time with our 10 month old and doesn't seem to have any problems running and jumping.

Has anyone else had this problem? I really don't know what to do.

Before deciding to do surgery, I would definately get a second and third opinion about it. There may be other options for your dog if she's not too inhibited by the knee.

I agree with Lael. X-rays might be in order to see if possible dysplasia in the hips, and they can usually maneuver the knees to see how much play might be in them. Could be that all is needed is some joint supplements but I think I would do x-rays or another opinion before jumping into surgery. Just my 2 cents worth!
