Poor Dobie at the humane society

I contacted the dobie rescue in our area about one at our humane society. The director of the dobie rescue emailed me back and asked if i could pull him and take him to their rescue (about 50 miles from here). I agreed that i would try to do what i could. So we went to the humane society today to meet him and he was just soo sweet and mellow.

Then we brought our dog in to meet him (because the h.s. knows we have a dog and i had to act like i was going to adopt this dobie for myself). Thats when the dobie tried to attack my boxer girl. So that plan was short lived.

We found out that the dobie rescue received an annonymous tip from the neighbors of the people who turned this dog in and told them that they had adopted this dog from the dobie rescue to begin with. this is why the rescue wanted him back so bad.

When my plan of 'adopting' him went sour, i tried pleading with the manager of the h.s. to release him to me so i could take him to the rescue. She argued with me that they did not release dogs to rescues because they wanted them adopted to a "forever home" so they would not be passed around. so i proceeded to tell her how the rescue has more time and energy to invest in these dogs in a non-kennel setting and that they would find a perfect match for him. It was a no- go though...

Now i am trying to get someone to 'adopt' him so i can take him to the rescue and they can properly place him.

WHAT A BUMMER and a TOTAL DISAPPOINTMENT in our local humane society!!

If anyone lives in the Lincoln Nebraska area that could possibly pull him, pm me! picture of Buck http://www.capitalhumanesociety.org...s.html?dogs_item=40&db_item=galleryitem&page=

Aww, Buck is sweet. You are so good trying to find him a home! We applaud you!

If I lived closer, I might could have an idea of someone who would take him in (they are looking for a dog already houstrained - this is in South Texas) but there would be no guarantees. If I hear anyone say anything regarding a new dog, I will refer them to this post! :)

Good luck finding him a home, i'm sorry I can't be of any help!

I am living in Omaha, Nebraska. Are you just looking for someone to adopt him so you can take him right after that to the dobie rescue? I would be more than willing if that is what is going to happen.

Christina, I got a message from the dobie rescue almost a week and a half ago that said they were going to get the dog, however, he was still on their webpage last time i looked. If you want to call the H.S. (you can get that number from their webpage) and see if he's still available, that would be awesome. Maybe something fell through with the rescue's efforts?? I do know though, that the dobie rescue coordinator said if anyone can get the dog, and release him to her, she will pay the adoption fee.

pm me for more info

Wow, what a load of crap! Several years ago when I was looking for a boxer I checked out my humane society and they said they call boxer rescue when they get one in. They did call me a few weeks later b/c they got one that the owner said had bitten someone and boxer rescue would not take it. I didnt either, I had a home daycare at the time and hubby refused since it had bitten before. I'm sure it was put to sleep. :(

Some shelters do not adopt out to rescues. This is true. The good ones appreciate working with rescues.
