Our poor little guy!!! For 8 months now, we have been unsuccessfully trying to figure out why Champ has been losing so much hair. Back in January and again in March we had skin scrapes done, both with negative results. That was at the vet where we used to live. They had told us that it was prolly just some type of allergy. We moved in May and ever since his bald spots (then he had 3 small ones) have turned into huge patches of hairless skin. So I took him to the vet in our new town for his annual shots and I asked them to do another scrape just to make sure it wasn't mange. What do ya know??? They found Demodectic Mites, and TONS of them. So why it wasn't found before is beyond me. Anyway, we have started the dreaded medicated dips and this is my question: Champ is scratching at his skin like crazy (because the mites are now irritated and dying) and I was wondering what any of you may have ever used to soothe their dry patches while they are getting this treatment? I already have a steroid antibiotic that we picked up today because after his dip yesterday he is scratching himself almost raw. I thought that maybe someone would have had some experience with this and had an idea of some type of ointment or something for their skin??? Please help-----he's so miserable!!! My poor baby!!!

A Aloe spray might work. I found one that helps Jessie with her itching. I also read on here that Melatonin helps the hair grow back faster and is all natural.

Yes I was told I could use it on Holly's incision after the stitches came out. I did not go that route because she just licked it off but the surgeon told me it was O.K. so if you had an area he couldn't reach with his tounge I would go for it.
