Leeta's Mom

Leeta has been very good with house training for the past few months. Now she's 8 months old and pooping in her crate every time she goes in!

At first I thought perhaps we were feeding her too much and she just couldn't hold it at night any more. So I adjusted her feeding schedule so that she wouldn't have eaten anything at least a few hours before bedtime. This seemed to help, until a few days ago. Now whenever she is put into her crate, she'll poop the second we leave the house. My fiance normally wakes up in the morning to take her out but she won't go to the bathroom with him. He'll finally bring her back in and put her back in the crate while he goes to shower. When he comes out, she's pooped in her crate. This morning I was woken up to find she had pooped in the living room, something she has NEVER done before.

I have always cleaned the crate after she made a mess but when it didn't stop, I left it in her crate so that she would understand that she was wrecking her own den. We can't leave her alone for a second now. She doesn't go to the bathroom when she's being watched.

I don't understand the sudden backtrack in training. She's always been very good. This is driving us mad! Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Boy you got me. i would make sure her crate is not too big, just enough room to turn and lay down. She would almost have to poop and lay in it right away. Try starting all over again, taking her out right away after getting up and eating, with a lot of praise when she goes outside. Good Luck

Good Advice Scorpio!!

When we first got Dasia we did not realize how HUGE her crate was. And because of it being so huge she continuously eliminated in there. We finally realized that the crate was to big so we just blocked half of the crate and she stopped eliminating in there.

Dasia is now 8 months old and for awhile we thought we had this whole potty trainging down! WRONG! She would be great for a couple weeks and then all of a sudden we would come downstairs to find piles of poop! So we went back to taking her out every time she played, ate and in general took her out about 2 hours. We had to retrain her again. She's getting it. :D

Good luck!
