We use Natural Balance rotating Venison and Brown Rice and Sweet Potato and Fish. Works well for Chico. I think he allergic to chicken. No problems since swithcing to Natural Balance.

Burns

My 3 are fed on Burns kibble, I have fed them James Wellbeloved too. The Burns is suiting them well :) They also have fresh cooked liver, chicken, mince and some veg occasionally :)

Knowledge is power...i use purina one lamb. i have a store near me in south jersey that carries Chicken Soup - uh! what did i know. I thought it was some kind of fad. Now i will go check out the site. What's it's claim?
There's not really a "claim" the name is kind of cheesy but the food is terrific, my dogs love it. They have continuously gained weight on it and have shiny healthy coats. I feed mine the kibble and canned mixed together. The canned has chunks of veggies in it and they gobble it up! You could check it out at www.dogfoodanalysis.com there are reviews on other foods as well. BTW Purina one food is not good at all. You could compare the rating of it to CS. :)

Titan went from ProPlan to CS and now to Timberwolf. He looks great with the Timberwolf, his coat is so shiny and soft, and we've had no problems at all with it.

When I got ShaKira she was on Iams Puppy mixed with Eukanuba. I switched here over to Wellness Puppy until she was four months and then to Wellness Super 5 Mix Lamb, I had her on that for over six months and switched to Wellness Super 5 Mix Chicken, this is when I found out she had a poultry allergy, so I switched to Wellness Simple Solutions Venison and she loved it and was on it for over a year. I wanted to change her food so I rotated her to Timberwolf Organics Dakota Bison and she loves it and her coat has never been shiner. Don't get me wrong she was so shiney on the other foods, but it is so silky, shiney, it actually glistens in the sun. Her coat has taken on a softness like you could never imagine a dog having. Since Timberwolf Organics Dakota Bison is an all life stages food, little Levi, is on this food as well, he was on Purina Puppy Chow from the breeders and he did love that food, but he has had no trouble switching out to the Timberwolf Organics. I used to be a big supporter of the Wellness foods and I still like them and would still use them, but the difference that I have seen in ShaKira's coat I will most likely stay with the Timberwolf line.

Super Boxer
Syxx is currently on Royal Canin Boxer 26. I know most people here believe that to be a mediocre food but it works great for us. Syxx who is now 11 months old started having digestive problems (runny poop with mucus in it, occasional vomiting and a lot of awful gas). We had been feeding him Natural Balance and Merrick in rotation. After two trips to the vet, 2 wks of boiled chicken and rice, and no snacks for a month, the mucus was gone but the poop was still runny. After giving the Boxer 26 formula a shot the poop was instantly better and he poops much less. Due to the size and shape of the kibble he actullay chews it a little which he hasn't done with any other kibble (sucked them down like a vaccum). According to an AKC book that I read one true test of a kibble is to place it in water for a few hours. If it swells up to 2-3 times its size, the kibble is no good. I did that with the Merrick and whoa!!

the breeder we got our daisy from was feeding her diamond (she had gotten it from a tractor supply store and said it made the coat softer than any other food she had tried)....then we switched her to science diet (recommended by our vet)....daisy still seems to have a very soft coat (many people comment on how soft it is)....i have read so much here about brands i have never heard of....is science diet bad? or i guess a better question would be, for "traditional commercial" food that the average person has heard of, what is the best?? i definitely think i am going to look into the chicken soup brand though....does it really make them shed less? our daisy has been shedding like crazy with the heat and i can't wait for that to stop.....and with the chicken soup brand, daisy is only 4 months old, should she eat the puppy or adult formula and if puppy, what age would you switch? thanks for any help!!
